YOu can manage how you distribute and test Meta integrations by creating versions and configuring the private release channels that Meta Wearables Developer Center creates for your integration. Please note that app integration versions created *prior* to the release of Device Access Toolkit 1.0 will not work with builds that use this version of the SDK. ## Use this page with AI Copy this prompt into your AI coding tool to plan a DAT test release: Use https://wearables.developer.meta.com/docs/develop/dat/set-up-release-channels/, then use the Wearables MCP endpoint https://mcp.developer.meta.com/wearables to call search_dat_docs for current release channel guidance. Inspect my project status first, then produce the smallest release plan for version creation, pre-created private release channel configuration, tester eligibility, permission management, and validation. Include the exact Developer Center and Meta AI app checks that prove the release channel is ready. Do not change app code unless the release channel requirements reveal a configuration issue. ## Understand versions Wearables Developer Center uses a versioning system that helps track changes and maintain stability across your integrations. Each version details product specifics, including the name, icon, and any edits to permission requests or app configuration. After you add and save these details you can find them by going to **Distribute > Version details > Project data**. When you change any of these details, you need to create a new version of the integration so you can distribute it to testers on a release channel. When selecting the version to use, the type of change you are making determines the category you should choose: - **Major (for example, 2.3.4 to 3.0.0):** Choose this for significant changes or API revisions that are not guaranteed to maintain compatibility with previous versions. For example, select a major version if you change core app functionality in a way that breaks existing features. - **Minor (for example, 2.3.4 to 2.4.0):** Select a minor version when introducing new features while still maintaining backwards compatibility. For example, if you add a new button or feature. - **Patch (for example, 2.3.4 to 2.3.5):** Use a patch version for fixing bugs or delivering minor improvements that do not break compatibility, such as correcting a typo or a small bug fix. ## Create versions To create a new version of your integration: 1. Log in to the [Meta Wearables Developer Center](https://wearables.developer.meta.com/). 2. Select your project from the dashboard. 3. Go to the **Distribute** menu and choose **Versions**. 4. Click **Create new version**. 5. Select your version type (**Major, Minor, or Patch**). 6. Click **Create version**. ## About release channels Release channels let you distribute a version of your integration to invited testers before release. Meta Wearables Developer Center automatically creates one private, invite-only release channel named **Beta** when you create an integration. Each integration supports one private release channel. You can rename the channel, update its description, change the version it distributes, and manage its testers. A release channel distributes one version at a time. ### Release channel access - **User invitations by email:** Invite testers using the email address associated with their [Meta account](https://developers.meta.com/horizon/blog/introducing-meta-accounts-what-developers-need-to-know/). - **Tester autonomy:** Testers may accept or decline invitations and can remove themselves at any time. - **Developer control:** You can revoke tester access at any point. You can also reinvite users you have previously revoked. - **User limit:** Check the release channel's **Users** tab for its current tester limit. ## Configure your private release channel To configure the private release channel: 1. Log in to the [Meta Wearables Developer Center](https://wearables.developer.meta.com/). 2. Select your project. 3. Go to **Distribute > Release channels**. 4. Open the actions menu for the **Beta** release channel and select **View**. 5. Optional: On the **Overview** tab, update the channel's **Name** or **Description**, then select **Save changes**. 6. On the **Version** tab, select **Edit**, choose the version to distribute, then select **Save changes**. 7. On the **Users** tab, select **+ Invite users** and enter the email addresses associated with the testers' Meta accounts. 8. Select **Send invites**. Each tester must have an existing Meta account. A Managed Meta Account is not supported. If a tester needs a Meta account, they can [create one](https://auth.meta.com/). ## Manage test user access Each invited tester must accept the email invitation to join the integration's private release channel. Developers can remove testers, and testers can leave at any time. **Note:** Release channels control a user's ability to register an app integration. Removing a user from a channel after they've registered will not unregister the connected app for Meta AI and the wearable device. To manage test users, open the channel's actions menu, select **View**, then select the **Users** tab. You can change the distributed version from the **Version** tab. Test users can view the integrations they are testing at: [https://wearables.meta.com/invites](https://wearables.meta.com/invites) ## Manage permissions and confirm the release channel in the Meta AI app People testing your integration can manage app permissions and confirm the active release channel for devices and connected apps in the Meta AI app. ## Manage permissions for connected apps As a test user, managing permissions lets you control what each integration can access on your device. To manage permissions: 1. Open the Meta AI app. 2. Go to the device menu and tap **Settings**. 3. Select **App connections** to see a list of all apps linked to your Meta AI account. 4. Tap on an app to view its permissions. 5. Adjust specific permissions. For example, for the camera, you may see options like: - Always allow - Allow once - Don't allow 6. Click **Confirm** to save your changes. **Note:** Changes made to these settings will apply to all devices connected to your Meta AI app. ## Confirm the release channel After a tester accepts an invitation, the integration's private release channel is selected by default. To confirm the release channel: 1. Open the Meta AI app. 2. Go to the device menu and tap **Settings**. 3. Tap **Release Channel**. 4. Confirm that the integration's private release channel is selected. If it is not selected, select it. 5. Click **Confirm** to save your changes. ![switch release channel](/images/switch-release-channel.gif) Learn [How to disconnect apps from AI glasses](https://www.meta.com/help/ai-glasses/836668612353969/).
